Things I Have Sold via My Website Over the Years
It’s been 5 years since I launched my website, www.flowerandflour.info.
At the time, I had just left Philips and was still on garden leave. I started working on the site the moment I didn’t have to be in the corporate office anymore. Building a website meant getting serious about the commercial side of my retail-less floristry business. Being able to create a small button with text that said ‘Learn more’ or ‘Buy now’ felt infinitely exciting.
Yesterday, I was creating a new page for the upcoming Flower Foundation 4-Week Program launching in 2027. I’ve noticed a pattern: every year when autumn arrives, I start mapping out new ideas for the year ahead. Naturally, this led me to reflect on all the different products, offers, and experiments that once lived on my website.
So, shall we take a quick walk down memory lane?
Cake + Flower Bouquet Combinations
To stay true to the name Flower and Flour, I initially tried selling cake and flower bouquet pairings. I had a business partner at the time who handled the baking. After a while, we went our separate ways as she decided to return to her corporate career.
Theme-Based Seasonal Bouquets
I tried many different ways to sell fresh flowers. I created specific design themes—for example, Valentine’s Day collections—and promoted them via Instagram and my website to drive pre-orders. When you operate without a physical storefront or foot traffic, you always have to find creative ways to reach people.
Garden Flower Workshops
I offered my very first workshop in 2022, starting with friends and acquaintances. I loved the workshop model because it gave me full control over the schedule, timing, and curriculum. After hosting workshops on and off through 2024, flower workshops became my main offer—allowing me to take full advantage of my garden in Heemstede.
My First Book & Pivot Coaching
At the end of 2025, I wrote my first book sharing my journey of pivoting from a corporate executive to a florist. That brought a completely new layer of effort and self-discovery, which naturally evolved into my Pivot Coaching business. I carefully introduced the book and mentoring packages on my website. Unlike flowers, which have an immediate visual allure, talking about a safe career pivot and offering mentorship felt very different.
Merchandise & Joint Workshops
And then there was the branded merchandise I launched that never really sold, along with a few collaborative, uniquely-themed workshops that didn't quite take off.
Looking back at all these different offers reminds me how much of entrepreneurship is about experimentation—testing new products, trying new partnerships, and discovering fresh ways to market what you love.
Not every experiment succeeds, but each one shapes the next chapter. Here’s to the next 5 years of evolving, learning, and creating!
